Meet the Wildes from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Elspeth and Peter have taken on the challenges of competing against large grocery operators with their dairy farm and fresh produce market. The dairy was the primary source of income and farm activity until Elspeth opened a market garden business. She shares some of the secrets to Oak Lake Farm's success.

You need one pig, a farmhouse kitchen, and a great location. At least that is what Linda and Jerry Knechtel from Shakespeare, Ontario needed to start a family run business. The Best Little Port Shoppe eventually moved from the home to a renovated out-building on the farm and has grown to meet the demand for specialty products.

The Harward boys (ages 8 and 10) from Spanish Fork, Utah, started a 4-H project to grow sweet corn on two acres. Ten years later, their father, Jud, talks about the family's sweet corn business that includes 125 acres of corn and 10 - 15 seasonal employees. And yes, the boys are still involved.
